Where can you meet over 200 Authors this weekend?

Live in Texas?  Looking for something to do this weekend?  If so, you might just want to check out the Texas Book Festival in Austin.  There are literally hundreds of authors attending and even more sessions that you can attend.  Authors will be signing their books 15 minutes after their session.

If you know me, you know that I have always loved books and love to read, but life ( and my child) keep me very busy.  I finally decided it was time to do something for me.  I am, after all, forty years old.  I have worked since I was 21 and have taken care of my 14-year-old pretty much by myself.  So, why not live a little.  I love to travel, I love history, and I love to read....hmmmmmmmm....whatever do I do with that??   Well, I have decided to travel to great places where I can learn the history of the area, and at the same time attend, what else, a book festival!  So, I am branching out from the local author visits and hitting the road (when time and money allow).

My first stop is definitely the Texas Book Festival in Austin, TX.  What a great excuse to see family and friends and pick up a few (dozen) books!  Check in next week to check out the pictures and see what books I have picked up.  I plan to share a few with you!

My next stop...Albequerque, New Mexico the first weekend in November for the Young Adult Literature Symposium.  I love these conferences, because they are mainly for librarians so there are lots of giveaways and ARCs to be had.

After that, I will head to San Diego January 7-10, 2011 for the Midwinter ALA Conference.  Again, lots of authors, free giveaways and books!

Stay tuned for more giveaway announcements and book reviews.

  1. Wow, a book festival. I'm glad it's not in Houston cause I'd so be tempted to go. Austin is a bit far for me since I can't get away for the weekend. Have a blast! Take great pictures with awesome authors!
